Where the Boys Are

August 20, 1960 Connie Francis begins filming Where The Boys Are!

yikes!

I know I’ve mentioned our show Beehive many times, but for those not familiar with the show, it was about all the great female singers of the 60’s and in one of the most loved parts of the show we had the character Connie Francis at Lesley Gore’s Christmas party!  We were lucky to have two time Tony nominee Alison Fraser originate the role of Connie Francis and she ripped it up every night – first with the hilarious Rocking Around the Christmas Tree and ending with Where the Boys Are.

Alison can go from serious to hysterical and sing her face off all in one song! She was fierce.  Still is.  Claudia and I saw her in Charles Busch’s The Divine Sister not too long ago and she was magnificent!  She’s never not working.  And she’s gorgeous!

I can’t play this song and not hear Alison’s voice, and see her in that huge Beehive hairdo and those fabulous costumes.  Lots of great memories.

Today was a busy day. We filmed Disney NBT contestant Elle Winter‘s video on the roof with her sister Lizzie and guitarist Steve Jabas, and I guess we went on too long because the elevator dude got off work at 5 so we were locked up on the roof til 7 til a new dude came on duty.  It didn’t matter much.  We were busy and having a ball.

So, if anyone wants to know where the boys are?

We were locked up on the roof!
