Keep On The Sunny Side Of Life

March 28, 2001 the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack goes platinum.

day 355

Always excited when my favorite album comes up on some shape or form for my daily blog. O Brother Where Art Thou? is my first playlist on my phone.  Keep On the Sunny Side is one of my favorites from the movie, and before this soundtrack version by The Whites I loved to listen to the Carter Family sing it.

It’s a shame that we can’t be in Vegas celebrating my mom’s birthday tonight.  All the west coast family and friends are there.  Win some money, guys!

We decided not to cook for Easter Sunday — we’re going to go to Chinese Buffet instead.  So we don’t have to clean, shop, have leftovers and overeat all week.   We’ll do all our overeating in one sitting.  If Casey was home, this would be unheard of cause he likes the family dinner, but he’s in Vegas and Dylan’s all about the Chinese Buffet.  This is how the Easter Bunny would want it.

You Are My Sunshine

every color in the world

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, and You Are My Sunshine is the song that Claudia would sing to the boys when they were young – every night from the time they were born until they were about 8 or 9.  I think it was Casey that didnt like the lyric You make me happy when skies are gray. I believe he thought that was too limiting, so Claudia had to sing You make me happy when skies are every color in the world!  It was a lot of extra words but Claudia made them fit and the boys liked it and would sing along with her with the new and improved lyrics!

Today was day 2 of the Festival Chorus’s road trip. We went to another public grade school in Brooklyn and then a nursing home. It was very sweet watching this 90 year old woman singing along with every song but when we got to Silent Night she started to cry.

I pass by and intersect with a lot of great people and i always wonder what their story is. Like, did this 90 year old have kids? Where are they? Was she married?  To whom and what did he do? Were they happy? Well, that’s what i was thinking while i was conducting Silent Night.

Busy brain and now I got a tired brain.

I gots to get up early and do it again, so I’m going to bed!
