Midnight Train to Georgia

October 27, 1973 Gladys Knight & the Pips’ Midnight Train to Georgia topped the charts!

Just a quick note tonight as I’m about to take the stage.  I’ll report back tomorrow in more detail but let me just thank some of my band tonight for sitting in backstage for an impromptu Midnight Train to Georgia.  Thanks to Martha Redbone, Ty Stephens, Stanley Hopkins, & Keith Fluitt.  I’ll tell you more about them tomorrow, too!

Gotta run!

I Heard it Through the Grapevine

September 20, 1994 The Temptations are awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Although the Temptations recorded this song I love the Gladys Knight version and since Cherry was over to rehearse some Stingers and Willie & the Swagga tunes I had her sing I Heard it Through the Grapevine and I was a Pip.

OK!  It’s late and I gotta go to sleep. The Yankees won, the Giants won, I played music, had homemade soup — a damn good day! I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned what an amazing cook my wife is, but she is, and now it’s soup season! Oh yeah!

When you think of the top 5 Motown songs?

Grapevine has got to be one of them!

more tomorrow!
