You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me

April 16, 1939  Happy Birthday Dusty Springfield!

You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me will always hold a special place in my heart.

In Beehive, an Off-Broadway show my wife Claudia & I and Larry Gallagher created in the 80’s, we had six amazing singers who went on to be so succesful!! Cookie Watkins, Jasmine Guy, Adriane Lenox, Laura Theodore, Alison Fraser and Pattie Darcy.

We lost Pattie in 2007.  Pattie was one of the most singingest white girls I’d ever heard. She sang with Cher and Bette Midler, but when she sang in Beehive she tore the roof off the Village Gate.

You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me, in a tribute to the British Invasion and Dusty Springfield, closed the first act of the show, and Pattie would get standing ovations EVERY night.

Pattie, I miss ya!
